TC Ului has weakened to a category 2 tropical cyclone and is unlikely to re-intensify before it makes landfall. At the moment it is still well offshore from the east coast, although the system is sending dangerous surf and strengthening winds over the QLD coast.
A Cyclone Warning has been declared from Townsville to Yeppoon and a Cyclone Watch continues from Cardwell to Townsville. The cyclone is most likely to cross the coast in this region during Sunday morning.
Currently Ului has a central pressure of 978 hPa, generating maximum wind gusts of 140 km/h. It is heading towards the southwest at 26 km/h.
